Interviewer: Thank you so much for joining me today, Gabby. It’s a pleasure to have you with us. To start, could you tell us a bit about your journey and how you came to be a spiritual teacher and author?
Gabby Bernstein: Of course, and thank you for having me. My journey started in my 20s when I hit a low point in my life. I was struggling with addiction and feeling disconnected from myself and those around me. I began exploring spirituality and mindfulness as a way to heal and transform my life, and it completely changed me. Through that process, I discovered a deep passion for sharing what I had learned with others, and that’s how I became a spiritual teacher and author.
Interviewer: Your teachings often emphasize the importance of self-awareness and mindfulness. Why do you think these practices are so essential for personal growth?
Gabby Bernstein: Self-awareness and mindfulness are critical because they allow us to understand ourselves on a deeper level. When we are self-aware, we can identify our patterns, behaviors, and beliefs, and that awareness gives us the power to make changes. Mindfulness helps us stay present and connected to ourselves, so we can recognize our thoughts and emotions as they arise and respond with intention rather than reacting unconsciously. These practices help us live with greater clarity, compassion, and purpose.
Interviewer: You’ve written several books on personal development, including “The Universe Has Your Back” and “Judgment Detox.” What inspired you to write these books, and what do you hope readers will take away from them?
Gabby Bernstein: My books are all inspired by my own journey and the experiences of the people I’ve worked with. “The Universe Has Your Back” is about learning to trust in a higher power and overcome fear. “Judgment Detox” is about releasing the judgments we hold against ourselves and others, so we can live with greater love and acceptance. With each of my books, my goal is to offer practical tools and guidance that can help people transform their lives and find greater peace, joy, and purpose.
Interviewer: Gabby, what advice would you give to someone who is just starting on their spiritual journey and looking to cultivate greater mindfulness and self-awareness?
Gabby Bernstein: I would say start by setting aside some time each day to check in with yourself. You can do this through meditation, journaling, or simply taking a few deep breaths and tuning into your body and your thoughts. Notice what comes up without judgment, and take time to reflect on what you discover. Also, seek out resources and support that resonate with you. There are so many incredible teachers and communities out there, and finding the right ones for you can be an important part of the journey.
Interviewer: That’s great advice. In addition to your books, you also offer online courses and have a large social media following. How has technology impacted the way you connect with your audience and share your message?
Gabby Bernstein: Technology has been a game-changer for me and has allowed me to reach a much wider audience than I ever could have imagined. Social media has been particularly powerful, as it enables me to connect with people all over the world and share my teachings in real-time. It’s also created a sense of community among my followers, which is incredibly inspiring and uplifting. Online courses have been another way to share my message in a more immersive way, and I love being able to guide people through a transformative process. Overall, technology has made it possible for me to reach and serve more people than ever before.
Interviewer: Your work often emphasizes the importance of gratitude and forgiveness. Why do you think these practices are so essential for our well-being, and what advice do you have for cultivating a practice of gratitude and forgiveness?
Gabby Bernstein: Gratitude and forgiveness are essential because they allow us to let go of negativity and focus on what’s positive and uplifting in our lives. When we cultivate a practice of gratitude, we train our minds to see the good in our experiences, which can have a profound impact on our overall well-being. Forgiveness is also critical because it frees us from the pain and resentment of the past and allows us to move forward with greater peace and love. To cultivate these practices, I recommend setting aside a few minutes each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for and to practice forgiveness by letting go of any judgments or grievances you’re holding onto. It takes practice, but over time, it can transform your life in powerful ways. Interviewer: Gabby, you’ve had a tremendous impact on so many people’s lives with your teachings and books. Can you share a story of someone whose life has been transformed by your work?
Gabby Bernstein: Sure, there are so many stories that have touched me deeply over the years. One that stands out is a woman who came to one of my lectures feeling lost and disconnected from herself. She had been struggling with addiction and felt like she had hit rock bottom. After hearing me speak, she felt inspired to start her own journey of healing and transformation. She began practicing meditation, gratitude, and forgiveness, and over time, she was able to overcome her addiction and create a life that she truly loved. She even went on to become a coach and help others who were struggling with similar challenges. Hearing stories like this reminds me of the incredible power of transformation that lies within each of us.
Interviewer: That’s a beautiful story. You’ve mentioned the importance of forgiveness in your work. Can you speak more about why forgiveness is so important, and how we can learn to forgive ourselves and others?
Gabby Bernstein: Forgiveness is critical because it frees us from the pain and resentment of the past and allows us to move forward with greater peace and love. When we hold onto anger, resentment, and blame, we’re only hurting ourselves. Learning to forgive ourselves and others is a process, and it takes time and practice. One thing that can be helpful is to recognize that forgiveness is not about condoning bad behavior or forgetting about what happened. It’s about releasing the negative energy that’s holding us back and finding a way to move forward with love and compassion. One practice that I often recommend is writing a forgiveness letter to yourself or someone else, expressing all the hurt and pain that you feel, and then offering forgiveness and compassion. This can be a powerful way to release the past and create space for a brighter future.
Interviewer: Your work is grounded in spirituality and mindfulness. Can you speak to the intersection between spirituality and mental health, and how spiritual practices can benefit our mental well-being?
Gabby Bernstein: I believe that spirituality and mental health are intimately connected. When we cultivate a sense of spirituality, we tap into a deeper sense of purpose and meaning that can help us cope with the challenges of life. Spiritual practices like meditation, prayer, and gratitude can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and promote greater well-being. These practices help us cultivate a sense of inner peace and joy, which can be transformative for our mental health. Additionally, when we feel connected to a higher power or a sense of something greater than ourselves, we’re less likely to feel alone or disconnected, which is an important aspect of mental health.
Interviewer: You’ve had the opportunity to work with many people over the years through your online courses and events. What has been the most rewarding aspect of your work, and what keeps you inspired and motivated?
Gabby Bernstein: The most rewarding aspect of my work is seeing the transformation that takes place in people’s lives. When I hear from someone who has overcome addiction, healed a relationship, or found a greater sense of purpose and joy, it’s incredibly inspiring and motivating. I also love the sense of community that has developed around my work. Seeing people come together to support and uplift one another is so heartwarming and reminds me of the power of connection and love. Overall, what keeps me inspired and motivated is knowing that the work I’m doing is making a positive difference in the world and helping people live their best lives.
Interviewer: One final question, Gabby. What is the most important lesson you have learned throughout your journey and work as a spiritual teacher and author?
Gabby Bernstein: The most important lesson I’ve learned is that we are all capable of healing and transforming our lives. No matter what challenges we face, we have the power to change our thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs and create a life that’s more aligned with our deepest desires and values. It’s a journey that requires courage, self-awareness, and a willingness to let go of what no longer serves us, but it’s a journey that’s absolutely worth taking. I believe that when we tap into our inner wisdom and connect with a higher power, we can create a life that’s full of joy, peace, and purpose.
